I haven't read the manga. I watched this first before the anime (I know I'm way behind!) Originally, I liked the movie. Prolly 7out of 10. Poor character development, seemed forced. Acting was funny because it seemed it was trying so hard to be "anime". I still liked it... Until I watched the anime version. I changed my rating from 7 to 1! Setting aside the CGI and all that, this seemed so rush and did no justice to the characters, especially the protagonists! Because of the film, I hated Mikasa, Eren was also despicable, Made Armin so weak and useless... On the anime series, the 3 are so lovable ( I still like Eren less, because, well I find him a little crappy at times but anime Eren is lovable than film Eren!)! Especially Mikasa and Armin. I understand that character development is normally hard to do on a movie due to length restriction, especially more than on character involved, but the 3 protagonists did not deserve to be watered down like that! Hannes, where is Hannes? Turned to Souda? A useless character. Oh, Jean was bad here as well. Very bad portrayal! As well as Sasha! Grrrr!!!!!! Hange was the only lovable character in this film. Even then, poor portrayal. Boo to that Shikishima character. Trash! Gears were useless as well. Attack On Titans deserved better!
