SPOILER WARNING: I cried basically this entire movie - from the wedding of Cana to the end. It was just so beautiful, uplifting and encouraging. It did feel a little rushed. I would have sat through a 2 hour version to have seen more of the miracles Jesus performed.
The only thing I didn’t like was the end. Right after Jesus ascends to heaven John’s dad runs up and asks what he can do to be saved. And John tells him the answer is a salvation prayer. But this exact scenario played out in the Bible. Ten days after the ascension 5,000 Jews heard the disciples speaking in tongues and Peter preached the gospel for the very first time- explaining that they had just crucified their lord. The Bible says the people were pricked in their heart and cried out men and brethren, what must we do? Then Peter said unto them “Repent and Be Baptized, every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is for you and for your children and all who are afar off even as many as the Lord our God shall call” (Acts 2:38). That is the Bible’s answer to that question.
