I did not fully appreciate what I was getting into. The novel seems at first to be more character driven, but as you fall into it and their often complex circumstances the plot becomes as intriguing as the characters...and you are left wondering, how did the author perform such magic?
The story itself echoes loudly in our present day, where women in trouble have no where to turn and too many want to blame the victim and avoid responsibility for their own part.
