As a history major in undergraduate & graduate school I have serious reservations concerning this work..Make no mistake it is an excellent book...the author has done his homework. Well researched, footnoted, primary sources. Maybe even the current definite work on this such..however from the moment that, " trumpeter John Martin gallops away," the author's narrative is conjecture . To be fair the author states such in his notes proceeding his proloque - that the actions & events , " are those most likely to have occurred." It's that verbage, " most likely to have occurred," that screams out well yes maybe but we'll never really know for sure will we?

Never saw the movie when it came out or heard the soundtrack LP until tonight. Bought a used copy of the movie/DVD for six dollars....What a deal! Totally entertaining....great songs. I mean the Beatles...does it get any better? Yes they were juz covers but I mean can the Bee Gees sing or not.. plus Pete Frampton, Billy Preston, AeroSmith, etc. even thought George Burns did a nice job...the music, the story kept me going...Besides it's hard to kill a good song & the movie is full of good songs...yes it maybe dated now but compared to much of what is out there now I kinda enjoyed it's throwback dated style. Juz let's not be to critical, sit back & enjoy it for what it is...Sometimes people can get a little too caught up in puttin' something down. I say - lighten up... recommend.

A mostly pictorial book consisting of approximately three hundred black & white photographs prefaced by a concise & informative background on life in Russia under Nicholas II. For the novice or the serious student many of these photographs are fascinating...Courtyard life to the common peasants are all pictured here. All living thru their day to day existence ...all oblivious to the great upheaval that will forever change their lives. For many their life will end...

An interesting concept...no breaks juz keep the music coming... Really like the fact that it's acoustic. Feel he's been coasting for a long time...he has that right of course ..However I still buy music & appreciate the creative side of an artist..this is old stuff but marketed in a slightly new creative way...not bad...maybe for fans only but nevertheless an honest sincere approach...It's kinda sad though even for Neil who as we know can be a downer...Could this be Mr. Young's final act? Probably not, time will tell. Recommended.

As a former history major, (BA, Atlantic Christian College), it's always interesting to see another peer tell their story...the story of America. This one volume account seems to hit the mark in almost all the right places... It's easy to see the author's interests. She doesn't hold her cards close...naturally her bias are present which is ok. They're the same as mine..Things seems rushed a bit but after all it's just one volume...As historians go she can be rather lively. Recommended but maybe for some an acquired taste.
