I can't accept a snow white with her neck leaning forward

This movie has a lot of illogical plot points. Why was Pikachu able to easily defeat two Pokemon, but Latios and Latias were completely unable to defeat the villains? Why did the characters, knowing the villains had the power to capture Latios, go to confront them unarmed and just tell them to stop? Why didn't Latias just fly Ash up to safety instead of escaping on its own and leaving Ash to fall into the water? There are too many strange and nonsensical moments that waste the great music and visuals.
