If you're a fan of CJ Sansom's novels, this series is frankly unwatchable. Dreadful casting of Jack Barak - a sneering little posh bloke versus, as Sansome wrote, a dark-haired ruffian. Efforts to make the book adaptable for television have prioritised style over substance, and what we are left with here is an empty shell of a series. My advice: invest 4/5 hours of your life into reading the book over watching this tedious tripe.
