I just thoroughly enjoyed getting lost in this book! I enjoyed the food stories, the characters, the location, and the evolving story.

I really savored this book. Their journey, what they valued, and how they endured was so rich with imagery. Then there were the generational differences. I was captivated by the relationships. Oh, and the history! Loved it. The Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City recommended it and so I bought it.

Curtis Chin’s book took me on a journey through the culture of a Chinese American boy. Besides being beautifully written, it allowed me to see a whole new world. Everything about it was different than me and my background, (except that I also had a wonderful dad). And yet, I could understand and follow his path through childhood. Beautiful!

I really dug into this book and read every chapter sincerely. I found it to be very engaging and thoughtful. I not only enjoyed the content and found that it has changed how I approach people, but I also enjoyed getting to know David Brooks.
