I am going to be honest I haven't finished the book yet. It started off good. There are a ton of books where characters have to go through trials so I wasn't even concerned that it's been done before. Until they started adding in the extras like the contestants are to attend a ball, and you can have your own seamstress to create your clothes, you have to have interviews in a stadium to show case your talents because the popular votes count? That's straight out of hunger games. The start of the book implied survival in the trails were based off your magical skills but during the interview chapter the author says they have impress the people cause it matters if they like her. I hope it gets better because those few elements made me not want to read the book if she's just copying the same premise as Hunger Games. There is writing taking inspiration from others then there is copying.

It was an alright horror film. Only being an hour and a half long I though stuff was going to hit the fan quick and hard but it was very slow paced and I found myself getting bored by the end. The best scene in the film was the opening. I liked the premise as I love ghost stories but the ending seemed very quick and lacklustre.

My niece got bored in this movie and I can see why, it was slow paced and a lot of it was a romeo and juliet type romance story that wouldn't interest kids. The visuals were pretty but an adult would understand the real stories of racism this movie is based around and it made it very depressing for me to watch. One of the final lines of the movie is the dad character saying we will have more time for hanky panky....just very cringe dialogue.

Honestly it wasn't bad just I found the overall story boring. I know a lot of fans were wanting Shuri to be the next black panther, but I thought shuri being as smart as she is would have realised she wasn't the best choice and given it to m'baku from the get go. I just felt the story didn't make much sense for her character.
