Actually the problem is elsewhere. The song is a masterpiece beyond the bounds of ages. It's so deep that this movie which is officially based on the theme of this song fails to achieve that unfathomable depth courtesy to the director's lack of very high artistic senses. What we get is a very superficial and mediocre movie which can't wrench and melt the heart like the song does.Despite the fact that both Anthony and the Gujrati guy apparently represent the same group of a 'Non-bengali turning into Bengali for love'(not that bad though), I personally feel that this inter-communal love is not apt here and it is not the heart of the song. Honestly, the Anthony Firingi and Mahamaya story could have been kept aside. This story rather could be of two common lovers who travelling through the ocean of time finally find each other once again and that could itself be enough to make a strongly romantic and meaningful movie. The sub-plots of 'Rahul and Riya' and 'Battle of bands' and 'forcibly imposed Bangaliyana' ruined the gravity of the song which itself is like a fine wine, not meant to be served with "staple diet of daal-bhaat-macher jhol in a 'sadharon bhaater hotel' at mid-day"
