💯 theatre material. One of Thalapathy Vijay's career best! The director has intentionally made some flaws which will be answered in upcoming films of LCU.
This review may contain some spoilers most of which are already out in social media.
When the director Lokesh Kanagaraj said that he's going to show a darker shade of Thalapathy Vijay that we have never seen before, i expected some level of villainism here and there. But man, this director knows his art! When you watch the movie for the second or third time, you'd realise how manipulative Parthi is! While lot of feedbacks says the second half is lagging, I kind of felt like this whole leo movie is just a backstory to give us a glimpse of what Leo AKA Parthi is capable of. He's someone who goes toe to toe with a wild scared hyenna and shows not a slightest sign of pain. The scene where he fights with the inspector almost showed his darker shade... But I'm sure there are a lot of unseen portions of Leo / Parthi that shows what a badass he is. This movie has layers and layers. The story is conveyed with more than just words! From the way Antony Das trying to trigger Leo / Parthi by wearing the same shirt he was wearing during the slaughter, to Parthi casually familiarising the scents of his family members to the hyena, the story travels beyond the script. The CG work is one of the finest I've ever seen in an Indian film! The single shot drone fight gave extraction 2 vibes. Madona Sebastian almost did justice to her role. Nepolean single handedly stole the show. While a lot of audience may feel like the LCU connection was shoved into the movie forcefully, the exact words used by Agent Vikram, the way he addressed Leo and Leo's expression for a fraction of a second before the credits rolls, I'm sure there's so much we've not seen. Waiting for Lokesh to work his magic.
