funny, crazy and has a wonderful Mark Rydell performance as Marty Augustine, a vicious human gangster who harms even those he loves. The most fun part is that John Williams uses the title song as muzak in a grocery store then the melody is finished by a Jazz vocalist as Marlowe leaves the store. All throughout the one melody is used in various settings. Then there is that wonderful cat.
