It’s frustrating to me when the least interesting part of a horror movie is the third act- by that timeframe, I was checked out and ready to leave the theater already- that said, it’s not all bad; the kid actors did a phenomenal job, the makeup effects are fantastic and there’s a cameo at the end that definitely pleased my inner horror fanboy self, but the story just wasn’t fulfilling enough for a 2 hour film and it’s more focused on being a social commentary on religious beliefs than intimidating the audience (which should be its main purpose)- this film unfortunately continues the trend of bringing back legacy characters only for them to be sidelined throughout the movie’s duration- Leslie Odom Jr.’s character was the honestly the most interesting one to me, but even he felt bland to some extent (he’s an amazing actor, tho)- if you want a good time at the cinema for some scares, go see Saw X instead, or you can rent The Last Voyage Of The Demeter on a streaming service to save yourself the price of gas and concessions- DGG, you’re a talented guy, but don’t waste your time with the horror genre- I wanted to give you a chance with this even though I disliked Halloween Ends more than most slasher films I’ve seen, but I don’t think you’re cut out for these kinds of films- please stick to comedies
