Life changing. That is how I would describe the effect Gilligan's Island had on my life. It was not only a microcosm of human nature, a comedy and examination of social structure, politics and intrigue.. it brought us what life on a tropical island could be.
I am now here, living in the Philippines since 2012 in large part because deep inside I just had to know what it was like to walk out onto a sandy beach, surrounded by coconut trees and wade into a crystal clear, warm ocean. I had to know what it was like to eat fresh coconut right from the tree. To feel the balmy (humid) air surround me like a warm embrace in the evenings under the stars as I gazed into a campfire.
I've done all this and so much more exploring the Philippines on so many islands. Thanks so much in part to the Castaways who introduced me to island life. God bless them all.
