Another of Disneys attempts to make fan favorite content only to make subpar shows & movies shooting for the low, low standard CW established - butchering Marvel & Star Wars long survived IP. The problem and cure is Disneys hiring of veteran or inexperienced cast: writers, runners, directors, and actors alongside young folks who grew up w CW thinking it is top shelf, quality entertainment. the cure would be to add balance for the HC fans and get someone who understands the IP. Disneys young executives are screwing up; or to no fault of their own were never exposed to quality nonfiction storytelling and don’t know any better.

This is not a Joker movie. It’s a bad musical with characters who happen to have the same names as DC characters. Can the Academy retroactively take back an oscar? Really ruined all vibes.

It look and feels like a “made for TV” or “straight to streaming” series. Kevin Costner seems to have been plagued by the same virus all of the big name producers & directors are experiencing, having only YES men around. No traditional studio management nor editor-in-charge… They Let them do whatever they want and never call them on their BS.

Bait and switch. The trailers are fraudulent. The story was slow and unexpected. It might have been an ok movie if it wasn’t sold as something else.

This is NOT what you think. it is a cookie cutter war movie about war correspondents & photographers on a mission to get to DC to interview the POTUS before the end of the civil war. Why is there a civil war? Any explanation of political motive or basic reasoning for its start is nonexistent. The action is decent but not mind blowing as the social media reviews are touting. The acting is average but the writing is at fault versus lack of acting chops. Some of the cameos did wake me up but overall I would pass or at least wait for it to be free on MAX, PRIME, Netflix, etc. Marketing/Trailer for Civil War used the same bait and switch tactics American Fiction pulled on all of us. The movie not being anything close to what the promotions portrayed. A few of you know what I mean.

👎🏿 Americans dont like it 👍🏼 Australians love it. It depends where you grew up it seems… If One CANT relate to 80s Aussi White Suburbia, One will think it slow, uninspiring, & uninteresting. Basic storytelling & characters. Decent time burner if you got nothing else in your queue.

first half of Dark Harvest is solid, beautifully shot, and well written. The clever story hits at a poorly timed 15 min lull where the story arc peaks and anlmost everything falls apart. TLDR: 3 Stars for the first half. zero/nada/zilch for the second half… There is very little explanation of the lore or reasoning leaving the first half of the movie/story, which was beautifully done, hanging in midair waiting for anything to help it conclude. It feels like one of the cliché Hollywood stories of a movie over budget, out of scope, and nearing a deadline being held up by a visionary arguing their art over budget gets bullied or steamrolled into finishing the movie quickly to make some Halloween deadline. Unfortunate but worth watching for the first half - just be warned of a huge disappointment and an anticlimactic catastrophe.

Don’t know what happened. Everything was lined up to make a fun movie. Kenneth Branagh as the EP; Dench, Gad, & Ferrel in supporting roles; and, heard the story was fantastic. The kid who played Artemis and Josh Gad were insufferable. The writing was even worse… compounded with the lousy acting of Gad and Artemis, I found myself laughing at first and then forwarding scenes that I assumed were irrelevant to the story. Considering Gad is supposed to be a brilliant voice actor, the raspy voice the actors were doing was so distracting and unnecessary. It felt like no one took the movie seriously. Gad holding on to the pretense he is a voice god; Dench probably taking the role because her grandkids made her; and, Ferrel was late on his DT New York apartment payment. They took the job and just coasted through. The kid was probably casted by some Disney Channel Executive and Branagh secured Disney’s money and walked away thinking his job was done. 1/5 stars for the 2-3 meh scenes it offered. BTW, don’t know if the ending was good because I didn’t finish it — caveat: potential 2/5 stars.

the main character is horrible. disappointing cause I loved the movie. watched season one and gave up...
