I recently took my niece and nephews to see Sonic the Hedgehog 3, a film I personally enjoyed. I am a long-time fan of Jim Carrey's comedic work, I was disappointed to find the movie's use of profanity to be off-putting and disturbing. Given its PG rating, I question the necessity of including explicit language. Historically, PG-rated films refrained from using profanity or used partial profanity for comedic effect. The inclusion of explicit profanity in these films now is alarming. If I had wanted my niece and nephews to be exposed to such language, I would have chosen a PG-13 rated film. I found the use of profanity in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to be unwarranted, particularly in a film rated PG. The increasing prevalence of profanity in children's media is a troubling trend, reflecting the declining standards of our society. To ensure a more controlled viewing experience for my niece and nephews, I will conduct thorough research on films before attending, avoiding those that contain profanity. It is unfortunate that such precautions are necessary to shield children from explicit language in supposedly family-friendly films.
