As a child of the 60s/70s, I found hope in whatching Star Trek's Nichelle Nichols as Uhura! Today's Star Trek Discovery is shockingly offensive. Why is the brilliant, psuedo Vulcan, African American 1st officer--portrayed as a deranged mutineer, murderer of 1,000s--then prisoner...who btw is convinced to "rejoin" star fleet (but really under cover)...not truly exonerated--scripted as a futuristic portrayal of Empire's "Cookie"? Is this really the "best" she can do in this franchise??! I've watched all of the Star Trek tv shows & movies...this is an extremely poor aim to secure ratings!
