Suspense and romance at its finest! This was my first Sidney Sheldon book, and it got me hooked from Chapter 1! It started with suspense that made me want to read more, unlike those books you'd give a few pages to impress but end up wasting your time. The storyline is captivating! The protagonist, Lara Cameron's journey is a perfect blend of love, struggle, and success. It was a page-turner, and I enjoyed reading about Lara's life, from her humble beginnings to her rise in the real estate world, a field once dominated by men. But, honestly, Lara wasn't exactly the most likeable person, and her character wasn't all that commendable. Still, her complexities make her relatable. Her struggles with love, betrayal, and anger are super human. Some downsides, though. The book wasn't really engaging in the middle - less action for about 100 pages or more. The plot twists were kinda predictable, and the ending, which was the highlight of the suspense, felt rushed. Also, the conclusion itself wasn't that satisfying. Overall, I'd give this book 3.5/5 stars. It's got its flaws, but it's a great read for fans of women's fiction and a motivating reminder that we can achieve our dreams with determination and hard work. Lara's story proves that.
