This book is a mediocre review of Tudor history that repeats many flawed stereotypical interpretations of English history in this period: from the image of a sickly, frail boy King Edward, to an account without nuance or context of the reign of Mary Tudor, to the completely naive acceptance of the "evidence" of the guilt of Mary Stuart obtained with the rack and written by those that wished her dead. Her "relatively comfortable" imprisonment by her second cousin Queen Elizabeth, who had offered her "protection", lasted 22 years without Elizabeth ever deigning to meet her in person before Elizabeth eventually had her executed. What sane person would not have plotted to escape such treatment and betrayal? Typical English history, written without any objectivity.
