Rogue One is an interesting, yet possibly, unnecessary addition to the Star Wars saga, and, as a standalone prequel to the original first film gives some more back story to the importance of the Death Star schematics and at what sacrifice they were obtained by the Rebellion from the Empire with almost all of the heroic cast being anti-climactically killed off . The acting was adequate and Donnie Yen's portrayal of a blind follower of the force is a saving grace amongst an otherwise two dimensional set of fairly undeveloped characters interacting against a now familiar backdrop that somehow nostalgically recaptures the style and feel of George Lucas' first installments. All in all it seems like a film that captures lesser known details on the periphery of a well-established story line that, on its own, lacks much in the depth of any involved plot but makes up for this with its almost cliche nod to the early Star Wars films and mind blowing special effects.
