28 Years Later fell victim to the Jurassic Park effect. Where the first and second films were great/good, and then came the franchise drop-off which is probably just going to get worse at this point.
Watching this film is a bit like watching an entire series where you can only see the first episode of each season.
Lots of unanswered questions, such as in 28 Weeks Later all the infected had died of starvation, but in this version they eat fish, and are somehow fast enough to catch wild deer, but not fast enough to catch humans.
Why is an infected female pregnant, are the infected experiencing a sex positivity movement, or was she already pregnant before she was infected. Why does the alpha have a large eggplant that not only appears to be as enraged as he does, but also seems to always be on display and the center of every shot, is this an important plot point that I am missing? Is this a hint at the next installment “28cm Later”?
Why are the infected evolving in a space of 28 years, or is the virus less potent each time it is passed on? Why are bullets less effective than arrows? Why did Lord Voldemort diagnose the boys my with cancer and then euthanize her on the same day? Why was the boy cool with that, and happy to put his mum’s skull on top of a large pile of skulls. What's going on with the Power Ranger scene at the end of the film?
All in all the film is not scary or suspenseful, it’s just strange and disappointing.
