It seemed to me & at 79 I've been watching movies a long time, that the director missed the mark. There is no continuity of the plot, no set up of events laying the groundwork for the story. It was as if she didn't want to portray Beadley & Lawrence as the despicable characters they should have been. Had she done so, that would have been a superb movie. Otherwise, it's just garbage. What a waste.
