I get why some people were put off by the ever moving scene switching and how long winded this movie was. It felt very much so like 3 episodes of a series. As a feature film, I think it would have been more smooth if they cut some stuff and utilized that time elsewhere. I won't debate whether it should have been a series or a movie, but what I can say is that there is some absolute gold here. It is a great theatrical experience in my opinion. Some acting comes up short, but only from lesser characters who don't have much screen time and it didnt take me out of the story like usual. I really hope the studio allows Costner (my guy) to follow up part 2 with parts 3 and 4. Dances with wolves is one of my favorite movies of all time, and the first hour and a half alone made me feel right at home and my money well spent. The rest was icing on the cake...the soundtrack, do not get me started. Amazing. Will be there opening weekend for part two!
