I'm just browsing through Netflix and I find Skull Island and I just think it's gonna be something like Camp Cretaceous but nah it blew my expectations. I love the artstyle as I'm more of a 2D guy, it reminds me a nit of Invincible and I dig it. I'm so happy with what they did with Charlie and Mike's relationship, in modern TV shows, especially animated ones, whenever they show two characters of the same sex together, it's automatically that they're gay. But Mike and Charlie were just normal best friends who'd do anything for the other and I'm down for that. I like what they did with Kong, I'm not too sure this takes place in the Monsterverse but I don't mind the little screen time they gave Kong as they still gave us a bit of backstory in like the 7th episode. What people fail to realize is that this isn't only about Kong cuz his name isn't in the title, I mean sure it's based on the movie "Kong: Skull Island" but this one isn't like the movie. Also I don't know how people would enjoy watching a giant monkey for 8 episodes just go around a jungle doing monkey things. There are shows like that though e.g. Primal by Gendy Tartakovsky on Adult Swim, but for King Kong, I fail to see how his story can be made without humans being involved. Overall, I had a great time watching this and am excited for a second season.
