The series keeps the essence of the book. I even wish it was longer to include all of the details in it but, they did a pretty good job of getting the main idea. Making a movie from a book is all about casting and the good guys were likable and the bad guys were detestable. Using a sight-impaired woman for the main character seemed to really fit the bill. Instead of feeling sorry for her, you admire her strength and courage. With all of the horror of war, you start to see her blindness as a gift. I wish they had used French actors. Is that possible? Ruffalo and Laurie feel really American and English. Iโm still giving it full stars because I love the story so much. They also edited the ending it to make it seem less sad, than the original. The message of the story is extremely pertinent, so I encourage you to give it a watch.
