If I could give it zero stars, I would.
The “plot” feels like a fumbling string of lies told by a child. The movie is about a rock that lets you make ONE wish. And then the rock becomes a person and suddenly you can make more than one wish. And the rock/bad guy can make all the wishes he wants without any explanation. Where did the rock come from? That would have been a better movie.
Also, Wonder Woman is still obsessed with someone she spent, like, two weeks with, like, seven decades ago?? What is the purpose? To cast the charming Chris Pine again?? Because, like all the stupid wishes made in the movie, that came at a cost. It makes Wonder Woman far less wonderful. It makes her seem pathetically desperate. The forced romance from the first film was the very worst part of that movie. This movie was that worst part, stretched out for 155 minutes. Seriously, the Chris Pine character undermines the Wonder.
In this movie, we have the promise of a nearly invincible woman who is graceful, fierce, kindhearted, and battle-ready—she might be complicated, even! But it’s an empty promise. Wonder Woman is just another boring Hollywood cutout who can’t be complete without a fella. Of course, as an afterthought, she learns she can exist without him. But it’s silly that the filmmakers didn’t consider that WE could also live without him.
