This was a distressing, but deeply satisfying watch. A great dive into grief, the difficulties of setting boundaries for a mother of an addict child and women's grit and determination in the face of hardship and the brutalities created by a male-dominated society. The critiques of others here on Google that the characters were frustrating or not better prepared for the difficulties in front of them are idiotic. People are frustrating, this is real life. The story line was clean, well-thought out, with all holes plugged neatly. Lovely symbolism and the ending was perfect, leaving the viewer with the question lingering in Julianne Moore's characters head: as a mother what should/would I do? That, without answering it for you.
