Hated it. You can revise stories all you like. But to turn a beloved story into a twisted re imagination is at best misguided. Why not tweak it the way you want and give it a new name. Disassociate it from the original. But you can't get the extra publicity that way. My main criticisms are the crass way the family is described and the bizarre politicization at the school. This may have been a story worth reading but should have been disassociated from the original. Also, the musical has most definitely been cleaned up and made funnier. So different from the book.
