My fiance & I pay $20/mo to watch unlimited movies so we go to at least 1 movie a weekend, all this to say we've seen a lot of bad movies because of this but at least they're free. This is the first time my fiance has ever turned to me and said "yea it's time to go" because of how unbelievably bad a movie was. I've never seen a movie so blatantly devoted to nepotism, this entire movie is about 5 seconds of not explained plot/backstory and every single scene is as much possible focus on M. Nights daughter who is the singer in the concert and becomes the entire focus about 40 minutes in. I honestly can't believe this made it to theaters, or that M Night put his name to a movie so horrible. If you want to see Shyamalans daughter rip off TSwift for 45 mins then try and tough talk/play mind games on what's supposed to be a super twisted cant-be-caught serial killer so bad they need 200 SWAT members to try and catch, this is the movie for you. I can't tell you how it ends, but when the pop star started trying to act like the serial killers abusive mother to make him "behave" that was when we walked out laughing in disbelief

Day One takes what we already knew and ignores it, then takes away the sign language so there's no communication between characters and in return gives viewers an angry woman glaring at everything for 90 minutes with almost no dialogue. I honestly don't know why this movie was made because it provides no new context of the aliens or how everyone figured out how they work, or the adaptations humans made to survive, and instead within 30 seconds every single person in the movie instantly knew not to make any noise and acts accordingly. Day One takes all the good parts of the franchise that we had like the central characters and their story and trades it for significantly worse versions, while adding absolutely nothing new to the backstory. I'd skip it Day One all together and just rewatch the first 2 because they're much better movies

My only 2 complaints are that the trailers really mislead the story, 2/3 of the movie or more is not whats advertised in the trailers which seems to be happening with every movie nowadays, and the significant use of CGI when real life cars/stunts would have made it a lot better. The 2015 movie still stands out for its amazing use of real stunts and it seems like CGI had somehow gotten worse in the last few years because now its extremely noticable when Avatar was made in 2009 and still looks unbelievable today. The writing was good, a little bit of pacing issues with the 2.5 hour length but compared to most movies that come out today it was overall a solid movie. The standards for a good movie have been plummeting for years, while I enjoyed this movie it wasn't the MUST SEE IN THEATERS experience that the last Mad Max movie was, as mentioned before mostly due to the overuse of CGI. I'd recommend watching especially if you're a fan of the series, it doesn't Have to be in theaters though

I wish I'd have read reviews before coming into this movie, we're 45 minutes in and I cannot wait for it to end. I'm trying so hard not to leave because there has to be SOME action at all after all this boring nonsense, but I don't think I can make it. I can scroll on my phone at home instead

They ruined another show by ignoring and destroying the source material while changing races and backstories of well established characters. What a surprise, more netflix trash
