(Spoilers in this review)
Disappointing.
The description made things sound very interesting like it would be an awesome movie… until I watched it. It starts off with the killing right away which I liked at first until after when I realised how much more information we need. No one even questioned what was happening. No one asked, “How the hell did I get from my bed back to school in the middle of the night with all of you?” they just went with it. I also found it strange how nonchalant she was after waking up. She sits up slowly and calmly and tells her mom she had a weird dream that she is not willing to discuss. The only thing that seemed to catch her off guard was the day repeating. No one seems to take it seriously until a friend actually ‘dies’. It was like a game before and they all found it fun to die. It felt off to me how happy this movie was when people were being mutilated. Sure they are young so probably trying to distract themselves and they just met some great genuine friends, it just seems unfitting going to the beach and getting in a fight for this type of movie with the ‘fun’ find the body parts sequence. Don’t get me started on that climax. That pissed me off to no end. I have never felt so much anger for a movie before. I know there is always slow moments in horror movies where they take their time to open a door or walk down a hall, but this felt extra. I usually laugh at moments like these but I was genuinely annoyed. She had so much time to run and place the head in the coffin before he died!! They literally sat there for 5 minutes and then later she sat there to watch him fight the monster when she could have run and placed the head in the coffin!! Then she took her precious time to just stare at the monster. The movie was also pretty predictable and there was a lot of unnecessary content that could have been replaced for better content or more information. After this movie it feels like I was still left with questions. If there is something good I will say it’s that the red girl looked cool! Good movie idea, probably could have used a different director and/or writers.
