It's rare for the video game adaptions that can achieve something that is impossible. Entertainment, Source Material and Nostalgia. Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog has those but Super Mario Bros. is the finest example what makes the expectation of video games so enjoyable. It's not a masterpiece sure, but it is a perfect fun movie for all ages. Thank you, Illumination. Thank you, Nintendo. Thank you, all the actors. (Especially Chris Pratt) And thank you, Mario for this entertainment.
