A MASTERPIECE!
This drama depicts the reality of life. It shows how we really are as human beings. It shows that people act the way they do for a reason. Just like how bad-tempered Dong-seok is due to the emotional abandonment he has experienced from his mother.
Episode 1, 2 & 3
Shows us how sometimes we UNINTENTIONALLY try to use people, not because we are bad, but because we are in a desperate situation and if we are to choose between our child and our friendship, we would definitely choose our child. (You will never relate to this if you don’t have a child)
Episode 4 - 8
Shows us the reality of teen pregnancies. That we adults make mistakes, and so will teenagers. Punishing them and ostracizing them only traumatizes our children. The only way to be a better parent is to accept that children, teenagers, our kids make mistakes just like we do. They are humans too. If we focus on overcoming the problem with them, (but making sure we do not tolerate bad behavior) they will learn to be resilient and not resentful and be better parents themselves.
Episode 9 - 10
Shows us depression and how it affects other people as well as how we can help them recover.
Episode 11 - 15
Shows us that there’s a lot we don’t know about a person and it’s easier to speculate and judge someone than to try to understand them. Sometimes, people don’t really lie, we just don’t know the whole story. Sometimes, people are very open and they say everything about themselves, but there are also people who are afraid to open up. We cannot expect people to act like us an to be like us. There’s no such thing as a person who is completely similar to another. We are all different.
This episode also raises awareness on Down Syndrome. How people like Yeong Hui struggle in a society that looks down and laughs at them. How the society made them feel they are too ugly to need a surgery so they can feel beautiful as well. It shows how they can also function in a society if they were given a chance. In the end, we are all humans who need acceptance and understanding as well as love.
Ko Mi-ran and Eun Hi
Shows how insecurity can spring from a friendship because of what other people say. If we can talk to our friends and try to understand them, we will avoid feeling insecure and resentful.
Episode 16 - 17
Shows the relationship between a grandmother, a son, a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter. It shows that we can never just speculate because it might damage a relationship, instead, we should ask directly and see what’s really happening.
It also shows that MIRACLES CAN HAPPEN if we pray and believe.
Episode 18 - 20
Shows a mother and son relationship and how a son will sometimes never understand a mother’s heart and how a mother can do everything for the sake of his son.
His mom tried to make sure he has a roof to sleep in and that he will still be able to school so he will not grow up illiterate like her. But her son took it the wrong way and has been resentful.
If we don’t understand something, we can always ask. And we should make the most out of our time with our parents while they are alive because they will never be around all the time.
“ONLY WHEN WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND ONE ANOTHER, THERE IS TENSION, RESENTMENT AND CONFLICT.”
But most people judge because it’s easier to judge than to understand.
OUR BLUES- a roller coaster of emotions. A drama everyone can relate to. An eye-opener. This is the best drama I have watched in my lifetime.
