First of all, how is a show that's trying to make me believe that fairies, painting pixies (And I don't mean painted pixies, I mean pixies that paint tiny little paintings for you to find in random areas. Kind of like Easter eggs, but I'm supposed to believe that a real pixie did this in real life.), pink snow and talking garden gnomes are real and flowers can grow much, MUCH larger than your house just by singing to it, and eating pink cupcakes makes you pink (And this made-up illness is called Pinkatitis if my memory serves me well.) and eating green vegetables will make my own flesh go back to normal educational (and I'm not kidding either. That actually happens.)?
Second, how did a show like this even end up on PBS KIDS in the first place? And what kind of name is Pinkalicious anyway? Who names their child that? It's also weird to me that only Pinkalicious has an odd name, but her brother, Peter, has a normal one. And everyone else in the series has a normal name also.
None of the Pinkalicious and Peterrific episodes I have watched (And that's more than half of them that have been made so far when I wrote this.) have had any educational qualities to them. It doesn't teach you math, the Alphabet, how to read, how to solve problems, etc. Nothing!
In the description for the show when I look for it on my TV guide, it mentions that it's supposed to boost children's imaginations. So maybe that's the ONLY thing that's educational about it?
Normally, I'd let it slide, but this show wants me to believe the stuff I see in it. An imagination is a great thing to have, but it is also good to know that it is just an imagination, and mythical creatures such as fairies and unicorns are not real things and never will be.
The music is awful in my honest opinion, and the animation is just atrocious to me (But, to be fair, this is aimed towards small children, so the music and animation aren't going to be at the best quality.).
In short, I think this show is extremely bad, and it is very sad that PBS KIDS allowed something like this to air on its network.
As an entertainment show, this series wouldn't be too bad at all. The things Pinkalicious imagines would be perfect for a show in that genre, but it being labeled as an educational show is just a huge mistake. Your child (or children) could learn more from Dora the Explorer or Super Why than this.
Thank you for taking the time to read my honest opinion and review of the show, and sorry if there are any typos that I missed.
