From the first 3 episodes the series is very engaging although at this stage the audience is still coming to terms with the characters and the plot. While the story is drawn from the HG Wells book it has been updated from an image of Alien mechanised warfare which predicted the technology of World War One (plus the heat ray) to one of more advanced technology as yet unexplained and AI and robotics. The underlying plot however is the same with isolated human groups struggling to survive and establish some form of continuity against the invader. The characters so far are still rather one dimensional portraying various responses to the situation (denial, despair, selfishness, opportunism etc) but are beginning to exhibit growth. The effects are appropriate and effective, the acting good in most cases and the story intriguing. Worth watching
