I am an avid Sex and the city fan. I watch it at least twice a year all the way through and can nearly quote the show. I have tried so hard (6th time watching both seasons all the way through) to like And just like that but simply cannot get on board. They’re trying soooooo hard to be “woke” and it’s borderline embarrassing for the legendary Sex and the City show. I will say costume and set is phenomenal. This show had such an amazing opportunity to bring today’s culture into the light and talk about the things they highlight but in a more tasteful way. Given their audience demographic of sex and the city they missed an amazing opportunity to foster changed minds.
Miranda realizing she’s a lesbian is such a powerful message to women who have felt like they had to go with what society expected of them. I have rewatched SATC so many times and there are so many times that foreshadowed to this but given the times she didn’t experiment. But she went from curious to throwing on a strap on with no exploration and struggle. It’s completely unrealistic and unrelatable. Know your audience and what they need. Also she is a career women… where did her career go? Miranda has simply become Miranda who.
Carrie is fabulous as usual but I do hate how Big dies and so soon after it’s thank you next to Aiden. Love him but felt like is discredited Big and Carries marriage along with the entirety of Sex and the City. Why did I even watch? But will also continue rewatching. <3
Charlotte is the only character that I don’t have much bad to say. I love that she gets back into her career in season two and struggles with the Spanx and learning to balance work and family again. Love her and Harry’s marriage too. She is simply the best character because she is still 100% Char.
Anthony is amazing. Love his business and how he’s still the same person just older.
Wish Samantha was in it. She high key is the reason the show was so successful to start. I don’t know if it’s going to get where it was without Samantha.
I don’t enjoy this show but keep watching in hopes that maybe they’ll fix it because I would love to see it successful. Feeling doubtful of that.
