It accentuates the meaningless characteristics of a person, which in a normal situation does not cause much of an inconvenience and overdramatically represents it. Nobody gets treated this rudely just upon a genetic difference in height. This completely defeats the purpose of the movie script as it is supposed to make the viewer with such a circumstance feel resonated. Not saying that this is intolerably bad, but its plot contradicts itself.
