This movie was just so unique, creative, and fantastical! I love the storyline and actually more so because it was reminiscent of the book, The girl in his Shadow which I also loved so much. I just love, as I ultimately see as one of the movies overarching goals, the journey towards independence and to being a progressive female that the main character, Bella Baxter made. I really enjoyed the costumes - the fashion! The music was just so unique and freaky and it matched perfectly with the scenes. The makeup is also very good. Emma Stone does a brilliant acting job, she is just so dedicated. I was less impressed by Mark Ruffalo's characters, but did like William Defoe's acting. And the cinematography, especially the production sets and scenes were just next level, literally from another world; just colorful, fantastic works of art!! You just know this movie had to come from a tortured mind but only in the best way. I am surprised I did not win Golden Globes and Oscars on all the above mentioned aspects. It did kind of tail out and did not give as much time as I would like to certain aspects in the end, like how Bella comes to being a doctor for example, but overall I enjoyed that it took place in 2 hours and 20 minutes- I think that was sufficient. I'm definitely considering buying it. The only sections that I fast- forwarded through or could not look at where the sex scenes- which I think we're pretty much p***, not needed- at least not at that length. It did take away from the movie for me, but I persisted through and was glad I finished in the end. Overall, this was a genius/ masterpiece film and I would recommend it to anyone:-).
