This could have been a great game but the janky control response is just hard to get past once you get to the more challenging areas of the game. The dodge is off and I can't count how many times I have pressed a button to strike and nothing happens even though my timing is good. When you make a souls like.... your controls have to be smooth other wise the difficulty comes from cheap annoying deaths. The are many small annoying things that make this game a miss....I really tried. What really did it for me was the swamp. The game was progressing ok and then suddenly became a cumbersome nightmare. I like to do alot of grinding and I decided to have strength build with plenty stamina. No matter how much I leveled up i never felt stronger. It was so frustrating that the same enemies that I could kill with two hits with a bucket early in the game could now take several strong strikes with dual swords. And frail enemies can take a strong strike and still push you like it's nothing and probably I fall off a ledge. The bosses are meh. The lamp was one unique idea but everything else feels like they copy pasted souls clichรฉs all over the place in a somewhat disorganized manner. The 2014 Lords of the fallen was much better, they should have built on that. Heck, Mortal Shell was way better and much cheaper.
