I think some of you are giving this movie FAR too much credit. It focuses on the most irritating part of its cast, something they admit within the first TEN MINUTES of the movie, instead of their most likable character (Emma Nolan). The casting was questionable (YOU DONT HAVE TO PUT JAMES CORDON AND MERYL STREEP IN EVERY MOVIE MUSICAL) and the writing was incredibly weak the majority of the time. What I will give it credit for its the amazing positive LGBT representation. I also greatly liked the color scheme and the bold lighting, though I admit it took me out of the scene a couple times. I wanted to like this movie so bad, for I love the musical its based on. But the more I reflect on it, I realize when I listen to the original broadway soundtrack I skip all of Dee Dee and Barry's songs in favor of Emma's (or Trent Oliver's) songs, and now that I've seen the whole thing, I understand why.
