This movie really did not need to be made and I was fairly disappointed after watching it for several reasons: 1. It moved too fast and there were several parts that made little to no sense. Aldhelm being executed happened seemingly out of nowhere. Uhtred, Finnan and Shitric taking control of the town at the beginning made little to no sense, they just took out a few guys and suddenly they have control? The uniting kings welcomed Uhtred after Athelstan banished him only to turn around and attack Bebbanburg right after that for seemingly no reason. None of these events made a whole lot of sense. 2. Several characters are missing with no explanation. Where is young Uhtred and Stiorra? Hild? Aelswith? Eadith? 3. The entire plot with Athelstan being homosexual and trying to reclaim lands to somehow attone for his sin of being homosexual was just stupid. It's a silly plot and in the show there was no inkling of him being gay at all, so suddenly throwing that in there felt forced and out of place. I was really excited to watch this movie after watching the series, but it did not live up to my expectations at all. The only part I felt was that great was how Uhtred died at the end and fades into Valhalla. But also, where is Ragnar?? Uhtred spent like an entire season saving his sole from Nieflhem and we don't see him at all in Valhalla.
