It started out quirky and huméous. I had no idea why the story of Robbie Williams would be a musical or why his character was portrayed as a Chimpanzee. But, since it's not the first movie about Robbie's life, they had to do something to be different, right?
I like old movies, musicals and "Bed Time for Bonzo", so I was okay with the direction the movie was headed. Then it started becoming dark and depressing.
When the movie ended, I almost cried. I have to say that the movie was very well done. I loved the music, choreography, costumes, cinematography and the character development. It made you care about a deeply flawed individual. A person that if they were in your life you'd probably give up on and walk away from. The movie also was about Robbie Williams, but it was also about redemption, forgiveness and exceptance. It's definitely a movie worth watching, but it's not a movie for children.
