It was painful to read. It took me a couple of months to finish because I keep putting the book aside. I just had to finish it because i don't like leaving books unfinished. I'm a chemist. We don't usually talk about the equipment and scientific stuff outside of work. A centrifuge is a tool, not something we clutch on nor proudly place in our living rooms. We don't speak scientific names during normal conversations, even with colleagues. The book seems to push the idea that Zott was a genius, but what I gathered was she was an annoying colleague who works in a vacuum. The author tried to incorporate the rape and unfair treatment against women, but that got muted with the obsession about her lab equipment and the comical cooking show.
