I loved this movie so much. I just finished the book the day I saw the movie and was so excited. It definitely lived up to my expectations and did the book justice. Yes there was a lot missing from the book but who can except to have everything copied verbatim (it’s already a 2.40 hour movie!) they had all the parts that were necessary and made it so people who haven’t read the book understood what was happening. I thought the cast was amazing and such well chosen, loved the representation! So interesting seeing the rise of snow come to life! You care so much and feel what he’s going through and interesting to see how he is manipulated to go down the path following his fathers cruel legacy of the games. Seeing the comparison of how cunning and smart Snow is from an early age which is reinforced by his idea that turned the games from almost being diminished to what we see in the original franchise movies. Hope we can see more of Panem soon!

After reading A Ballard of Songbirds and Snakes I desperately etched to re-watch this series. I can never get over this movie and the more I watch it the more I can appreciate the details, foreshadowing and underlying messages that evoke your emotions. Yes, very different to the books but what can you expect from a movie; you can’t always fit everything in. However, there are so many subtle underlying messages of power, and the need of control especially in the filming style. This movie is able to grip all your emotions and makes you feel that you are in the arena at times and at other times observing from the outrage of the districts and the highs from the viewpoint of a capitol citizen. The shaky filming style, bright light while emerging from the tube to the arena, the silence the builds intensity and aching inside you. I could write in and on but we would be here forever. Love this movie and this world that has been created.
