Characters not bad, the main character is likeable which is important. The few secondary characters you meet (literally just 2) are okay but, you don't really spend any time or rather enough time talking or interacting with them to really feel anything about them. They are just there, so you have a reason to do what you need to do. It makes for quite a lonely experience which could of been what they were going for here, makes sense. Your goal is to get out not make friends.
The audio and sounds they are fine I guess though it just didn't feel dark, scary or creepy enough with them added. It gave to much away honestly. Sound would pick up in some spots and let you know a jump scare or enemy was basically up ahead, so it brought the scares and creepy factors down to like a 0. Maybe not use sounds in places with those scares coming up and instead use them as the scare happens to give the game a bit more added tension and atmosphere.
Atmosphere and creatures were ugly looking as expected but, that was it. The atmosphere was ruined by audio cues, it looked creepy but, it never felt creepy or terrifying because the audio took that away in places where it shouldn't have. This may not be a big deal and this could be subjective but, perhaps I should of turned the sound off at one point maybe it would of had a creepier atmosphere. The game just isn't scary, deadspace was way better with the atmosphere and sound factor.
The deaths are gross but, honestly wasn't phased by it and didn't really feel that it was gory, it was just meh. I wasn't impressed honestly but, I do account the what some may consider gory other's may not and vice versa.
Combat in the game starts out good, it is a bit clunky though and that doesn't really improve as the game continues. There is a bit of a spike in difficulty after about chapter 5 but, i think that is more due to the terrible combat mechanics then it is the actual enemies being difficult itself.
You can't skip cut scenes even if you have already seen them but, just died. If you die you have to repeat certain sections, recollect things and rewatch cut scenes in some instances. All these just had to the length of the game. So something to keep in mind as everyone's skill with the game will be different.
Overall the game is okay, but it just misses the mark of what they advertised the game to be. The game feels a bit rushed and probably could of used a bit more time to polish the combat, it is far from smooth. They really fell short on the scare/creepy factor, making me want to replay deadspace because it was just a whole lot better. If you want to play wait until the game goes on sale, wouldn't recommend buying at full price.
