While the framing of this story is interesting and creative, I truly disliked the overall premise of the book. The final resolution (trying not to give away too much) made me truly angry about the choices the author gave the character. The premise that the main character’s life needs somehow to revolve around her spouse and what they bring to her life, rather than her own choices, in insultingly narrow.
Her final choice is maddening.
I am not certain why the author made such a simperingly week character whose major action on her own behalf is to pick Mr right here.. rather than build her own life, but it angered me on her character’s behalf. As a reader, I am also insulted by the insinuation that some how we must all settle for what is on offer, rather than finding our own way to build fabulous lives.
