I don’t know how to explain my feelings of gratitude for this movie. Yes it’s a road trip of 2 friends, to find common ground with one friend’s transitioning . And yes it’s also to test how the small town diners and truck stops she has loved her whole life will accept her now.
But it’s also about living authentically, and being so terrified that people won’t love the real you, that you hide your whole life. So many of us can feel her pain of never becoming who we truly are. And Harper does it in a way that wants no pity or sympathy, she accepts her difficult journey with dignity. This film is inspiring, heartbreaking and so hopeful….and of course funny.
