On one hand, Charlie Hunnam did an amazing job and made you empathize with his character. The problem comes when you realize just how much of it was entirely fictional. At first I was intrigued at how this person could have such a psychological break. Yet after looking up more details, over half of the show is completely made up and exaggerated. This wouldn't necessarily be a problem, except for how they exaggerated the content. Number 1 is how they made such an attempt to sexualize the character or his reasoning. Not only did they make him a necropheliac, but they created a "are they gay/trans/mentally ill, or all three?" It was done in a way that may have intended to create a dialog about the subjects. However, the way they went about it did far more damage to those groups than anything good. It felt framed almost as if he was like that because he believed he was trans/gay. Or when he asks his doctor why he killed people, his response was "because you're schizophrenic." He says it not just once but twice. There are many people with schizophrenia who do not dig up bodies or murder people. Overall the acting was good, but the messaging misses the mark so much that it feels incredibly disrespectful to the groups it attempts to represent. I couldn't finish the last episode, which was 100% fictional, because it was upsetting knowing it was an hour of BS instead of his story. It's worth a one time watch, but you can stop watching after he gets caught. You don't miss anything worthwhile.
