4 episodes in and I can't wait to see what happens next. reading through some of the negative reviews made me realize one thing. if this isn't up to your "standards", write your own script, pitch it to a studio and see if it gets greenlit. my spidey senses tell me that's not likely to happen. I even saw one person try to turn this into a political discussion. There's nothing "woke" about a man getting a pedicure/manicure. It only means he's taking care of himself. People who use that term really have no idea what the term refers to but I digress, we're discussing a crime drama show with fictional characters. Anyhow, so on to my personal opinion of the show so far....
While they've toned down the violence, sex and language pretty dramatically, the dark humor and drama remain. I love the frequent callbacks. There's a slight air of predictability but that also existed in the original series. It was never meant as a murder mystery show. Based on the preview for next week's episode, I have a suspicion of how this will all play out. I'm not gonna say because I'm not "that guy" and for all I know, I'm way off. I will say this though, I do believe a torch will be passed from father to son. We shall see.
