The historical inaccuracies and problematic subjects of the play set aside, this is the most beautifully constructed story with so many layers it leaves you awe-inspired. The songs are utterly fantastic and the performances from everyone are perfect. There were a few scenes that brought me to literal tears by how beautifully they were performed. Everything from the lyrics, singing, choreography, and lighting. I went into watching this with a bit of an "Oh it can't be that good. It's just about our founding fathers with rap. Corny AND boring". I soon ate those words and by the second track I knew I was sooo mistaken. Several times I was almost upset at how good this musical is. How perfectly written it is. How dare this play about our founding fathers make me feel these emotions?
I'm no stranger to getting emotional during performances. Even when I don't vibe with a particular piece of art I still respect the amount of talent and emotion go into something. You can literally feel the blood, sweat, and years of tears they put into this performance. I have never had such a strong reaction to any piece of art in my entire life. I wasn't a fan of theatre or musicals before this but just how perfect this play was is undeniable. It is deserving of all of its praise and is a literal modern masterpiece that will likely be studied for years to come. If you are in any way interested in writing/storytelling, music composition, or dance then you owe it to yourself to see this and start taking notes. It's a masterclass in everything.
