There are a bunch of people leaving 1 star reviews about this movie with copy and pasted text. After watching the movie and then coming here to see this… it’s probably the most surreal thing. Art imitates life imitates art. Are these people real? Are they bots? Do they even know why they don’t like the movie? Do they pop an Ambien and then write reviews often? Does it even matter?
It’s almost as if the symbolism that is blatantly laced into this flick is just so far beyond them (and it shouldn’t be, it definitely wasn’t subtle) that the only thing they can do is try to tank the rating of the film so they don’t have to stop and ask if it posed any questions worth discussing.
It’s akin to book burning, imho. But you can’t burn a digital copy so they will just try to muddy the proverbial waters in the hopes that it dissuades someone else from watching it.
That in itself is folly. Art, even the kind we don’t like or don’t understand, needs to be seen and discussed.
As for the movie… my wife and I watched it and then discussed the many references and rich commentary for several hours after. That’s the sign of good art to me so I’ll say the film was an resounding achievement.
And I would absolutely watch it again so that says something else as well.
But don’t take my word for it. Watch it for yourself. Think about it. Question it. Talk about it with friends. Why else are we even here if not for that very reason.
