This book is a little gem that had a big impact on me after I was diagnosed 6 years ago with three primary cancers, including breast cancer. I had 3 surgeries on one day.
During recovery and six rounds of chemotherapy, I was invited to use the library at my hospital's cancer treatment center. Joni's book leapt off the shelf for me. (I'd visited Texas and totally "got" the big hair reference.)
Her ability to address her cancer journey with humor and transparency really was an inspiration for me to do the same. I can honestly say her story made a positive difference in my cancer experience. Laughter really is good medicine. It produces a biochemical reaction in our brains and bodies that strengthens our immune system. Though sad, gritty and poignant in some parts, it is a definite must read for any woman who is on a cancer journey or accompanying a loved one on that journey. Y'all enjoy!
